Garage Door Replacement in North Richland Hills, TX

Modern frosted-glass garage doors on a luxury home

Time for a new door? We help you pick one that fits your home and budget, then install it clean. No sloppy seals, no afterthought trim work.

A new door is one of the few home projects that pays you back twice. It changes the look of the whole front of the house, and if you go insulated, it changes what the garage feels like in August. Most homes around here have the garage facing the street, so the door is roughly a third of what anyone sees from the curb.

Installed pricing runs about $990 to $2,000 for a single and $1,550 to $3,500 for a double. Custom work like full-view aluminum and glass or a real wood carriage house door starts around $3,300 and goes up from there. We do a fair amount of that in Colleyville and Southlake.

We measure, we show you what actually fits your opening, and we are straight with you about tracks. Reusing old tracks on a new door saves you a little money up front and causes problems later, so we will tell you when yours have another decade in them and when they do not. The old door, the packaging, and the scrap metal leave with us at no charge.

Signs you need garage door replacement

  • Panels are cracked, rusted through, or dented past straightening
  • A section is discontinued and cannot be matched anymore
  • The door is uninsulated and the garage is unusable half the year
  • You are stacking a third repair onto the same door in two years
  • You are selling and the door is the weak spot on the whole elevation

Picking a door that suits the house

Start with the elevation, not the catalogue. The garage door is usually a third of what anyone sees from the street, so a door that fights the house is expensive in a way that shows up every time you pull into the driveway.

Around the mid-cities, a few pairings come up again and again. Traditional brick homes in North Richland Hills and Watauga generally want a raised-panel or long-panel steel door, and the safest colour is usually the trim colour rather than the brick. Carriage-house styling, with the hardware and the vertical seams, suits the newer stone-and-stucco builds in Keller and Trophy Club, and you can get the look in steel for a fraction of what real wood costs. Modern homes in Southlake and parts of Colleyville are where full-view aluminium and frosted glass earns its money, and on the right house it genuinely transforms the front.

Windows are the decision people most often regret in both directions. They add light to a garage that is usually a workspace, and they add $90 to $220 for stock options. If the garage faces the street and you park a project car in there, think about who can see in.

Insulation, and whether it earns its keep in Texas

Here is the honest version, because insulation is where doors get oversold.

If the garage is attached and shares a wall or ceiling with living space, insulation is worth it and we will push you toward it. A two-layer R-12 door adds roughly $160 to $330 over a bare steel one, and in a DFW August it takes a real bite out of what that garage does to the room above it. Going the next step to a three-layer R-18 costs another $160 to $280 and makes the most sense when there is a bedroom or a bonus room directly over the garage.

If the garage is detached, or it is purely storage and nobody spends time in it, the payback gets thin. We have talked plenty of people out of the upgrade on a detached garage and we will do it again.

There is a second benefit nobody mentions in the brochure. Insulated doors are substantially quieter, because the layers damp the panel drumming that makes a hollow steel door boom. If noise is your actual complaint, insulation helps as much as the opener does.

What install day looks like

A single-door swap runs about three to four hours. Doubles, or anything that also needs new tracks or an opener, usually take most of a day. We do not leave a garage standing open overnight, so if a job runs long we secure it before we go.

  1. Old door comes down section by section, springs unwound safely first.
  2. Opening gets measured and checked: header, jambs, and floor level all matter.
  3. New tracks go in unless yours are genuinely reusable, and we will show you which you have.
  4. Sections stack up one at a time, hinges and rollers set as we go.
  5. Springs are sized to the finished door's actual weight, not the last door's.
  6. Opener gets reconnected, travel and force limits reset to the new door.
  7. Both safety systems tested, then we run it twenty times to be sure.
  8. Old door, packaging and scrap metal leave with us, at no charge.

Questions worth asking whoever quotes you

Not just us. Ask these of any company you are considering, because the answers sort the trade out quickly.

Are the tracks included or reused? Reusing old track on a new door shaves the quote and causes binding later, and a quote that stays quiet about it is not comparable to one that includes them. Are the springs sized to the new door? A heavier insulated door needs different springs, and skipping that is why some new doors eat springs in the first year. Who handles haul-away, and is it in the price? What is the warranty on labour, separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the door itself?

And the one people forget: is the quote a firm number or an estimate? Ours is a single written figure before anything starts. If another company will not put theirs in writing, that tells you something worth knowing before the truck shows up.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new garage door cost installed?

In the North Richland Hills area, single-car doors run $990 to $2,000 installed and double-car doors run $1,550 to $3,500. Insulation, windows, a non-white color, and decorative hardware each move you up within that range. Full-view glass and custom wood start around $3,300, which is most of what we install in Colleyville and Southlake.

How long does the installation take?

A straightforward single-door swap takes about three to four hours. A double or a job that also needs new tracks or a new opener usually fills most of a day. We do not leave your garage open overnight.

Is an insulated door worth it in Texas?

For an attached garage, yes, especially if a bedroom or living space shares a wall with it. Going from non-insulated to a two-layer R-12 adds about $160 to $330 to the door price and takes a real bite out of what the garage does to your summer cooling bill. For a detached garage you use for storage, it is harder to justify.

Do I need a new opener with a new door?

Usually not. Most openers move a new door fine. The exception is when you go from a light non-insulated door to a heavy insulated or wood one, because the added weight can outrun an older half-horse unit. We check the opener before quoting so there is no surprise.
