What should I budget for a garage door in DFW?
Our published installed ranges are $990 to $2,000 for a single-car door and $1,550 to $3,500 for a double-car door. Size, insulation, windows, and installation conditions affect the quote. The ranges below are a starting point; ask us for a written quote for your door.

Pricing on a new garage door is one of those things nobody likes to talk about until you actually need a number. Here are the ranges we quote every week around North Richland Hills, Keller, and the rest of the mid-cities, broken down so you can see what is driving the cost.
These are 2026 DFW market numbers. Your specific quote will depend on your door size, the brand, the style, and whether the existing tracks and opener are reusable.
Single-car garage door cost (installed)
Range: $990 to $2,000.
The low end gets you a non-insulated steel door in a standard short or long-panel design, white, no windows. Perfectly functional, looks fine on a starter home or a detached garage. The high end gets you a quality insulated steel door (R-12 to R-18) in a designer color, optional windows, and matching hardware.
What pushes you up the range:
- Insulation. Non-insulated to two-layer R-12 adds about $160 to $330. Two-layer to three-layer R-18 is another $160 to $280.
- Windows. Adds about $90 to $220 for stock options, more for frosted or decorative.
- Color other than white. Adds $110 to $330 depending on whether it is a stock factory color or a custom paint.
- Hardware upgrade. Carriage-house style decorative hardware adds $55 to $160.
Double-car garage door cost (installed)
Range: $1,550 to $3,500.
Same logic as the single, scaled up. Most North Richland Hills homes built in the last 20 years have double doors, and a quality insulated double in a popular color runs about $2,000 to $2,650 installed for the most common configurations.
Custom and high-end garage door cost
Range: $3,300 and up.
This is where it gets fun. Around Colleyville and Southlake we install a lot of:
- Full-view aluminum and glass doors (think modern frosted glass): $3,850 to $7,150 typically.
- Custom carriage-house wood doors: $4,950 to $9,900 depending on species and hardware.
- Oversized doors (12 to 18 feet wide, taller than 8 feet): premium of 30% to 60% over a standard size of the same style.
What about the opener?
New residential opener (installed): $440 to $720.
Most new opener installs are belt-drive units, which are quiet enough to live with even when the bedroom is over the garage. If you want battery backup (so you can still get out during an outage), add about $160 to $280.
Wall-mount jackshaft openers (the kind that mount on the wall instead of hanging from the ceiling) run about $770 to $1,100 installed and are a great option for low ceilings or when you want the cleanest look.
For more on opener choices, our opener replacement page covers the trade-offs.
What drives the install cost itself
Beyond the door and opener pricing, the install labor is roughly $220 to $440 for a straightforward swap, and a bit more if any of these apply:
- Tracks need replacing (they should not always be reused on a new door).
- Header or jamb has rotted or settled and needs reinforcement.
- Existing opener is incompatible with the new door and needs swapping at the same time.
- The door is going up two stories or has unusual access constraints.
We tell you all this up front. No surprise charges at the end of the install.
Common repair costs (so you can compare)
If you are weighing repair against replacement, here are the typical repair numbers in our market:
- Spring replacement (matched pair): $220 to $440. See spring replacement.
- Cable replacement: $160 to $310. See cable replacement.
- Roller replacement: $90 to $200. See roller replacement.
- Opener repair: $160 to $440 depending on what failed.
- Off-track repair: $200 to $380.
- Single panel replacement: typically $330 to $770 for a matched section.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to replace just the springs?
$220 to $440 for a matched pair, including labor. We do not charge by the spring or charge a separate trip fee on top of that.
Are HOA-approved colors more expensive?
If your HOA requires a specific color, you might pay more if it is not a stock factory color. Most builder-popular colors (sandstone, almond, dark bronze) are stock and add nothing or very little.
Do you offer financing on new doors?
Not directly through us, but we accept all major credit cards and we can work with most third-party home-improvement financing programs (think Synchrony, Wells Fargo home projects, etc.) if your dollar amount makes that worthwhile.
Will my old door be hauled away?
Yes. The old door, packaging, and any scrap metal goes with us. No charge.
